Key takeaways

  • Trend is aligned down across 1H/4H/1D with multiple prior support levels broken this week.
  • XAU/USD off 0.45% on the day, printing a session low of 3963.66 against a high of 4018.72.
  • EMA50 at 4170.60 is hard invalidation; while it caps, the bearish structure stays intact.

Gold is in a clean, unrelenting downtrend with no structural floor in sight after a week-long cascade through support after support.

Spot bullion is off 0.45% on the session and has traded a 3963.66 to 4018.72 range across the Asian and early European window. Over the past seven days the pair has shed nearly 5%, slicing through level after level in sequence — each former support now acting as overhead resistance. There is no fresh news catalyst driving this move; the selling is structural, momentum-led, and the tape is not asking for permission.

The setup could not be more legible for a trend-following desk. Trend is aligned down across every timeframe — 1H, 4H and 1D all confirm. Price is trading well below EMA20 at 4092.55 and EMA50 at 4170.60, with EMA200 at 4405.78 a distant ceiling. The EMAs are stacked bearishly, each declining and fanning lower. RSI is deep in oversold territory, which in a strong downtrend reflects momentum rather than a reversal signal — we do not fade oversold in an aligned trend. Volatility is elevated, consistent with a trending regime that favours positional shorts over fading bounces.

We sell rallies into the 4092–4093 zone and hold shorts while EMA50 at 4170.60 caps on a daily close basis. A close above 4170.60 is the only credible invalidation.
